Hi Everybody,
This Monday we went to Adventure Golf and Raceway. Being 36" tall, my daughter is big enough to "ride along" in a go-kart. The cars are branded a la NASCAR. We had a great time together in the Target car, my son rode with daddy in the Hotwheels car. The engines are quiet and the track is fun. Next we did a round of miniature golf. There's beautiful flowers and well-kept greenery all around. The scenery is creatively themed; we enjoyed the Jungle Adventure course. If you have little ones, I recommend sharing the same ball and take turns moving it toward the hole.
Last fall I made an interesting discovery with my son at Adventure Golf and Raceway. I bought an unlimited pass figuring that we'd be Go-Karting a half dozen times, but after one round on the track he wanted to go golfing -- on all 3 courses -- again and again. When I asked him about this, he told me that he preferred the golf because it was more peaceful.
Since then we've been checking out more peaceful places, including the Denver Botanic Gardens. The Children's Garden is always a favorite, but this week we explored the Asian Garden for the first time. We read about the moon gates and had fun on the path of black stones. A couple years ago, I hadn't given a second thought to the Botanic Garden, I had assumed it was too boring for little kids. I was wrong, if you are looking to wander in beautiful places, find a day 70-80 degree day and enjoy! Kids love to roll down the sloped area in the center.
Another peaceful place with arguably the most spectacular view in Denver is the Sky Terrace of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. I learned about it from the president of ModMoms North who suggested this great idea. [Continue here from the newsletter's "READ MORE" break.] It's not clear whether picnicking is permitted. To get there, cross thru the Space Exploration exhibit to the atrium, and take the elevator to the 4th floor.
Last year my daughter was just shy of being 2 years old when we went to Tiny Town. Her big brother gave the dozens of miniature houses a glance and moved on to the playground but she was enthralled. She contemplated each and every little house with fascination. She could have stayed all day. I hope to take her again soon.
I've also been thinking about farms and tours. Last year we enjoyed picking raspberries and flowers at Berry Patch Farms, and this year I've found a few others too. I'll post them next week. Til then, may your days be filled with laughter,
Jill
