CO: Children's Museum of Denver (LoDo)

This museum is excellent. It is a multi-story space with many very high-quality areas. To name a few:

  • a large, safe exploration area for crawlers and early walkers
  • a full-size firetruck with a cab to explore
  • a grocery store with little carts, cash registers, etc
  • a wooden-track train zone
  • a place for constructing things out of wood and recycled materials using real handtools (with parent supervision!)
  • a small basketball court
  • and much, much more.

The events at the museum are always excellent. The parking is usually ample. If you're not sure of the directions, bring a map with you, it's behind the aquarium. The food at the museum is gourmet and affordable (not cheap, but not too pricey). There are areas to eat, picnic, and a nice pirate-ship playground.

There are lockers for a quarter (or maybe 50 cents) on the ground level. This is a smart idea instead of leaving valuables in the car, or burdening yourself with a purse or diaper bag.

Also, look up http://denvertrolley.org/ to catch a ride on the open air trolley in the summer.
