BOULDER, CO Mountain Day Camp provides authentic nature-based experiences for boys & girls ages 4 1/2 to 12 in Boulder County and creates "resident camp" connections at a traditional day camp. MDC focuses on youth and community development through nature exploration, choice and play. Mountain Day Camp is one of only two camps in Boulder County that is both Accredited by the American Camp Association, and licensed by the State of Colorado. MDC offers traditional summer day camp in the the summer and year-round camp days when kids are out of school*.
Mountain Day Camp launched in 2004 and is based in Boulder, CO.
Jill: I've had the pleasure of meeting the two directors (Tommy and Betsy) of this camp at their free holiday craft-making event in December. They are very nice people who are dedicated to the excellence of their camp. I also liked the kids I met, they were campers from the summer program who came by to make crafts too.
Three features I like about this camp include: They have special one-day programs on BVSD School Days Off* so your kids can experience the Mountain Day Camp program prior to enrolling in a summer session. The directors put effort into funding camperships to help kids attend who would otherwise not be able to afford summer camp. Update 3/2008: MDC is accepting kids with developmental disabilities into their summer program starting in 2008.
