When the weather isn't nice, here are more than 20 places to play. (Venues offering drop-in activities are emphasized.)

Boulder / Longmont


  •  B & C Bounce Town (Longmont) open bounce times M-F
  •  Rope World (Longmont) super fun! ages 2 yrs - 3rd grade. sporadically available 5-8 wks/yr (calendar). Keep an eye on the end of July 2009. Indoor rope and obstacle course with plenty of climbing, swinging, and tunneling fun. Less crowded later in the day. Thank you Mr. Higgins! (Too old for Rope World? go to Jungle Quest in Thornton)
  •  Itty Bitty City (Longmont) supervised drop-in open gym. scooters, jump ropes, floor mats, bean bag play, tricycles, cozy coupe cars, roller skates, and more. ages 0 to 5. during the school year.
  •  North Boulder Rec Center (Boulder) great kiddie pool and more
  •  Boulder JCC (Boulder) new drop-in tumbling room for kids ages 6 mo to 5 years. Currently restricted to families who have signed up a Shalom Baby class/program. (Shalom Baby classes are open to everyone, regardless of religious affiliation.)

    Erie / Lafayette / Superior / Broomfield

  •  Erie Rec Center (Erie) indoor playground and full rec center
  •  The Kangaroo Kingdom (Lafayette) CLOSED PERMANENTLY 2009.
  •  WoW Museum (Lafayette) best place to bring your toddler when your newborn arrives. best value for educational play kid 6 and under. accompanying adults are free.
  •  Chuck E Cheese (Superior) great fun for ages 2-6
  •  Paul Derda Rec Center (Broomfield) indoor playground, fantastic child care area, fabulous family lockers, awesome pool zone, arcade too
  •  Pump It Up (Broomfield) CLOSED PERMANENTLY 2010 but there's a new one in Fort Collins
  •  Chippers Lanes (Broomfield) Just $2 games including shoes! for kids 6 and under M-F from 9-11am. Lots of fun - put the bumpers up and get a ramp for toddlers. Just be watchful so kids don't drop a ball on their feet or put their hands near the spinning ball-return wheel!

    Westminster / Thornton / Northglenn / Arvada

  •  Butterfly Pavillion (Westminster) don't miss the play area across from the gift shop
  •  Jumpin' Jordy's (Broomfield) Drop-in daily. Check site for details. My kids appreciate that it is quieter than most jump places.
  •  Fat Cats Bowling Center (Westminster) call for discount opportunities. lots of fun - put the bumpers up and get a ramp for toddlers. Other attractions. Just be watchful so kids don't drop a ball on their feet or put their hands near the spinning ball-return wheel!
  •  Little Monkey Bizness (Westminster, Denver, Lone Tree, & Parker)
  •  Skate City (Westminster) roller skating fun for all ages, special drop-in times for family discounts and kids 2-6 too
  •  Jump Street (Thornton, Greenwood Village, Littleton & possibly Lakewood) there is a kiddie zone, but the general facility seems geared to ages 7+
  •  Jungle Quest (Littleton) ziplines, bridges, rope swings and rock wall for ages 5-12. treehouse for toddlers. drop-in frequently available, however reservations recommended
  •  Xtreme Challenge Arena (Thornton, Englewood & Fort Collins) drop-in is limited, mainly parties and camp for the summer. I've heard it's very fun for kids (5+) and adults.
  •  Boondocks Family Fun Center (Northglenn) best for ages 5+
  •  My Gym (Arvada) indoor gym fun for toddlers thru teens
  •  Apex Rec Center (Arvada) indoor playground, great pool, lots to do

    Denver / Centennial / Littleton (limited coverage)

  •  Children's Museum (Denver - LoDo) great areas and daily activities. a bit pricey since adults aren't free. great food. hard to manage kids of different ages since each activity area is distinct from the rest. Free "First Tuesday" evenings. Open late on Wednesdays (superhero discount too).
  •  Little Monkey Bizness (Denver, Lone Tree, Parker & Westminster)
  •  Lollipop Park (Centennial) indoor amusement park for kids
  •  Amazing Jake's (Aurora) CLOSED
  •  Funtastic Fun (Englewood) CLOSED - see Lollipop Park
  •  Mr. Biggs (Littleton) CLOSED
