There's plenty of afternoon and early evening New Year's fun for Boulder/Denver kids. (Remember that if it's too cold out, it doesn't matter how spectacular the event is, it is always better to keep your kids indoors.)

Afternoon of Dec 31st


Free: HAPPY NOON YEAR
11am - Noon at the Broomfield Auditorium
Performance by the Salida Circus. Join us in the Broomfield Auditorium for a fun program, then a countdown to the New Year at noon. Free tickets available at the Auditorium box office beginning at 10 a.m. Limited to the first 295 people. Hats and blowers provided.

NOON YEAR'S EVE
9:00 am - 3:00 pm at the Children's Museum of Denver
Lots going on with special ball-drop festivities on the plaza every hour (10, 11, Noon, 1, 2). Plenty of bubble wrap to stomp. Crafts and other activities. Outside fun is free to the public, and inside fun is general admission. There may be a small fee for nonmembers to park. Museum closes at 3pm. Refer to web page for schedule of events.

NEW YEAR'S AT NOON
11:00 am - 12:30 pm at the WoW Museum in Lafayette
Musical performance by Eric West at 11:00am followed by a countdown at noon. Refreshments provided. Crafts while supplies last. Museum closes at 2pm. All activities included with regular admission.

Early Evening of Dec 31st


ZOO YEAR'S EVE
5:00 pm - 9:00pm at the Denver Zoo
On the brink of a brand new year, children can also experience the fun of Zoo Year’s Eve, a wild New Year’s Eve party beginning at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 with entertainment and activities that lead up to an early countdown to New Year at 9 p.m. It’s the perfect night for families to celebrate together without stretching the limit on bedtime! Activities free with Zoo Lights admission.

Free: DOWNTOWN FIREWORKS
9:00 pm & Midnight above the 16th St Mall in Denver
To welcome the arrival of 2010, the New Year's Eve Fireworks Downtown will once again fill the skies twice during the evening. The first show, at 9:00pm will entertain families and others looking for an early celebration, while the second show officially marks the start of the New Year at midnight. The two fireworks programs are identical, and both are launched simultaneously from dual sites along the 16th Street Mall.

MADCAP IMPROV COMEDY
6:00 pm and 8:30pm at Madcap Improv Theater in the Westminster Promenade
Special performance of the MadCap show - voted #1 for Live Comedy on the 2007, 2008, 2009 Denver Channel A-List. Rated PG (no foul language or obscene subject matter). Recommended age 6+. Update 12/29/09 Both shows for New Year's Eve are sold-out.
